On A Personal Note

A couple of weeks ago I lost my marketing management job. Some of you may or may not know that. I moved to Dallas for this position. Originally I'm from Kansas City, Mo.  So now short of two years I'm yet again out of a job. This is the fourth time, not by my doing. These are desperate times and they call for desperate, unconventional measures. I wanted to reach out to my readers and see if anyone would have any contacts who may be willing to talk to me. I have created a website showcasing my resume and portfolio. (If you want to see what I look like, you can check out the site.) I am willing to relocate. I can stay in Dallas or go back to the Kansas City Metro area and I have friends in Chicago and the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area. So I have several options, but will consider outside those possibilities.

I even have a Twitter account set up for my job search and of course optimized my LinkedIn profile. All of which can be found on my website.

If you can help, I would appreciate it.

  1. I can't help but wish you the very best of luck!

  2. Have you thought about doing at home work? You could always do customer care at home while you work on jewelry. Just a thought :) I know it's not the same thing, but it is something.
i wish I was more help! Good luck

  3. I don't have contacts but I have plenty of prayer headed your way!

  4. Sorry I can't be of any assistance to you but wish you luck in your search.

  5. There's an opening At Learning Tree International, a training company where I worked for a couple of years before my health problems made it impossible for me to hold a job any longer.

The position is called Web Optimization and Social Media Manager. The position is described as "responsible for two key aspects of our digital marketing program: 1) Optimizing the company’s web advertising campaigns including, but not limited to, Google AdWords and Banner advertising. 2) Building relationships with our customers, prospects, communities, and followers on such social media outlets as Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogs, YouTube, MySpace, etc.

The corporate office is in L.A., but this position's location is Reston, VA, which is in the D.C. metro area. That's the office I worked in. Reston is one of a whole group of cities in what's known as Northern Virginia. This would not, in any way, be like moving to D.C., except insofar as you'd have access to lots of great theaters, galleries, museums, etc. If you're interested in it, I'll reach out to someone.

  6. I took at look at your resume website. Wow! I don't see how you can avoid getting snapped up as a marketing manager. You obviously know your stuff.

  7. Just subscribed to your feed. I don't want to miss any of your marketing tips. I can use them for my shops and galleries.

  8. Thanks Marian! I try real hard between looking for a job, jewelry business and a freelance project, I do the best I can that's for sure. Many late nights.

  9. I wish you the best of luck. I wish I had some contacts for you.
