Etsy Blogger of the Month: Bunny Kissd/Faerie Garden Fancies

This is a fun gal to feature. In her shop, Faerie Garden Fancies, she makes sweet dessert earrings and we also share some favorite likes. I wandered over to her profile to learn more about Bunny Kissd and found we have similar music tastes.  She likes 80s music! Sting, Madonna, Duran Duran!!! But she's also a fellow crafter as I mentioned before. I love these brownie earrings. Too bad they're not real.  I need to get a brownie mix. Now I'm in the mood for brownies. You can also find an assortment of other treasures in her shop. Drawings, ACEO's, and even crafts by her children.

You will find a variety of musings on Bunny Kissd blog. Everything from shop updates, photos, reviews, and you've just got to check out her right side of her blog.  It's full of all sorts of goodness. Links to other venues - for and non-profits. If you like interesting variety, you'll like Bunny Kissd/Faerie Garden Fancies.

Have a Facebook Page? You NEED to Read This...

I found out about this important default setting with the "New" Facebook from a team I belong to, Handmade Harbor. Not all your fans, friends, followers are seeing your updates thanks to Facebook taking the honor of defaulting your thread to just people who you interact with the most.  This is important for EVERYONE! The story is on Etsy, but it doesn't matter if you are a crafter, or just have a personal Facebook page. This applies to everyone. Please read about this default setting and how you can CHANGE the setting to include EVERYONE you are friends with.

EtsyBloggers: February Blog Carnival

These are tough questions to choose from.   1) Next week is Valentines! We have already had a "love" theme, so Tell us about your favorite "romantic" book or movie and what you like about it.   2) We are also in the middle of winter! Write something about you/your family's winter experiences.

As most my readers know, I'm not exactly a Valentine's Day fan.  But I LOVE winter. I know, I know, I'm weird. But maybe it's because I was born the day a blizzard started. Every birthday, which is February 10, I hear about how my father had to walk to K-Mart to get me formula because the cars couldn't get out. How there was 14 inches of snow...But it wouldn't be my birthday without that story.

As I got older, I just had to be outside from dawn to dusk in the snow. My mom would have to drag me in. Oftentimes, it was a compromise to go in only to get the Pink Baby Magic lotion on my face and to change into dry clothes and new suit and back outside.  I wore out snowsuits, chapped my cheeks, lips, nose, you name it. I just loved playing in the snow. I'd make shelters, snowmen, angels, pretend I was stranded in a snow storm and would never get home. When I got bored and couldn't think of anything else to make up or over dramatize, I'd start to shovel driveways. In the short span of houses that I could wander to by myself, they were all elderly. So after I shoveled our driveway, I'd move on to the neighbors, then their neighbors and keep going as far as I was allowed. I was not even 10.

But there was no way I was going inside! I remember one time one of the neighbors gave me a giant Mr. Goodbar. I was just dumbfounded. I was just having fun. I sound a lot like Forest Gump when he cut the grass. But anyway, I was the Forest Gump of our street. I just liked shoveling. Til the day I moved out of my parents home, I did the shoveling. When I'd visit from out of town, I still did the shoveling. There is a science and an art to it and feel I've perfected. It all depends on the snow type and how much has fallen or is falling. I NEVER wait til the snow is done. Living in an apartment has taken away that fun chore of mine. It's such a productive chore. There are times I want to tell the maintenance guy, no, you're not doing it right, but I don't. He must learn like I did. One day he'll get his Mr. Goodbar, but he's not ready yet.

Look at the Fabulous Bag I Won!

Catching up on my winnings to share with you. This past holiday season I entered a contest to win a fabulous bag made by Moka Designs. The giveaway was hosted by Handmade is Fun! She has really cool bag designs in fabrics for anyone. Like gothic? Like Teen Punk? Pin up Girls nostalgia? She's got it! You've got to check out her shop.

I got to pick a bag. I chose this fun lime green, yellow bag. I wanted something fun and funky. This bag has storage galore! I've decide to make it my traveling jewelry bag. The side pockets are great for my tools. And the big, roomy inside is perfect to slide my design board and bead containers in. Love the magnetic closure as well. Head over to her shop and find your new craft bag. Great gift idea too.

Trying to Catch Up

As most my followers know, I finally was able to land a job in December. I am now the marketing manager for a distributor/dealer of Overhead Door Company. I had to move from Dallas back home to Kansas City for this job. I'm finally moved in and for the most part settled. I got a "newer" apartment. I usually go for the older ones because of storage and charm, but after the last few years, I felt I deserved a step up. I am now living in one of the hottest shopping districts in the Kansas City area. I have 2 huge soaking tubs, the feature that sold it for me. Valet trash isn't half bad either. Since I moved back to the Midwest, I get all these extra features for the same price as I was paying in Dallas, for nothing!

My job is going well. Definitely stirring the pot for marketing initiatives, but in a good way.  The culture is so much better. I get invited to things, office parties and committees, people talk to one another, it's fabulous. I don't live far from the office either, so that's not half bad. I'm close to the family.

Now for the jewelry business, it definitely took a hit. I'm slowly trying to catch up. I still have tons of SEO, videos and marketing emails to catch up on. I haven't had any creative time. But I'm hoping now that I'm mostly unpacked I can start catching up more. I miss my water aerobics just as much as my creative time. I'd like to get that started and start up my old routine again.

I hope the year will bring a variety of blogging activities. I will be posting about some of my winnings over the last couple of months during the holidays and move. Can't wait to share those with you. I'm working with another blogger on marketing tips and tutorial series. And of course, I'll continue to feature other artisans. I hope to have a useful and more varied blog for you this year.

Have a great year!
