EtsyBloggers: March Blog Carnival - Celebrating Spring

Question posed to write about this month is:  The first day of spring is just around the corner. What one sure "first sign of spring" tells you that winter is finally over and the cycle of life is ready to begin anew?

That would have to be St. Patrick's Day for me. It's a big holiday for my family. We've got close roots to Ireland and all of us are red heads. We've got the Irish grit and the famous tempers. But that doesn't make it Spring. It's the big traditional dinner we have. It's similar to Christmas at our house. My mom cooks the dinner and we all go to my parents house for dinner. Corned beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and Irish soda bread.  We've also added some modern touches to our traditional dinner. My sister now makes the Shamrock cookies. They are peppermint flavored sugar cookies that are soooo kelly green, we all end up with green mouths. But that's part of the fun. Shamrock punch that is a lime sherbet punch that is just too good.  A new tradition we started a few years ago is decorating an Irish tree. I happened upon a small kelly green metallic Christmas tree, but we decorate it with Irish ornaments and blessings. The only traditional item we don't participate in is the Guinness. We're not big beer drinkers, go figure. But after our big feast, I always feel like it's time for Spring. Must be all that green!

I Got a Blog Feature!

I have been featured on SixThirtyThree blog!  This gal is a great writer. She has a love for fashion and does a wonderful job of eloquently weaving her thoughts on fashion with the various treasures she finds. I've told her she should write for fashion mags. You'll find several series on her blog: Outfits of the Week, Earth Friendly Topics, and Features on Handmade Artists. She has people who randomly find her blog online and that's just great! Here's a little big about her...

Helping people motivates me.
I took my love of colors, my ability to write, and my motivation to help others and I created a blog. Creating stories from my life and my imagination, I blend my three passions together into a life blog which hopefully brings added exposure to people who are passionate about and expressing their creative talents.
One year before the recession hit, I found Etsy through Twitter. I instantly died and went to consumer heaven.  Read more from and about this wonderful visionary on her blog.

If You Tweet...Read This

A new Twitter scam is making the rounds, spreading through accounts of unsuspecting users who have been duped into clicking on a link that claims to reveal how many hours they’ve spent on Twitter.

The scam spreads through a message that reads “I have spent 11.6 hours on Twitter. How much have you? Find out here.”
The message is followed by a link that takes the user to a page that will attempt to connect an application called “Time on Tweeter,” which, if installed, will spread the message further through the users’ Twitter account without their consent.

Similar to many other Twitter and Facebook scams we’ve seen, this latest one shows how important it is to make sure you can trust an application before you give it access to your Twitter or Facebook account.

If you’ve fallen victim to this or similar scams, you should immediately revoke Twitter access to all suspicious applications. To do that, log into Twitter, click on “Settings” in the upper-right drop-down menu, choose “Connections” and click “Revoke Access” on suspicious apps — which, in this case, is the app named “Time on Tweeter.”
